Another Year is over 2009 its flown past. I have had some great memories in 2009 in the class of SP in grade 5 :)
This term we are learning about the human body. It is a bit hard to learn all the bones in the body and we are also learning about muscles in the body and much much more. So far the bones that I know are skull, clavical (collarbone), scapular (shoulder blade), sternum, vertabe, ribcage, ilium (pelvis), ulna, radius, humerus, fibula, tibia, feema, patella, phalanges (fingers and toes), lower jaw, coccyx (tail bone),
This term we the senior school are learning about energy. SP is learning about Chemical Energy then we will swap with SS and we will learn about something different. So far we have done an experiment called gluey goop. We made it in little groups. We got given the things we needed and we started. Our first one didn't turn out so good with the PVA glue but then we made another one with Miss.Powell which was a different glue that we used like wood glue or something and there it was gluey goop it was really cool. It was a cool experiment. Now my gluey goop is a bit harder and it isn't slimy. After a long long while I had to chuck out my gluey goop because it smelt weird and it went super hard. We have done other experiments that involve mixing things together eg. milk and food colouring, egg in vinegar, steel wool in different things and in just water and also just by itself which we had to wait every certain amout of minutes and write down which one had rusted the most and also changed colour the ones just by itself didn't change at all. Soon we will be swaping with SS to do a different type of enery I am looking forward to learning more about the rest of chemical energy. In a couple of weeks we will be showing the class some of our experiments. I am with my friend and we are doing a jumping coin and not touching an ice cube to get it out of a glass. You have to wait and see to what we have in stall.
Glitter Words
On the 19th of August the senior school went to the MCG for a tour and to visit the Sports Museum. We had playlunch before we went in and we played some games on the grass like tiggy. Then we met our tour guide and his name was Ken. First he told us why the big lights were on the grass and because of the grand stand half of the ground doesn't get enogh light so they have to buy these really expensive massive lights so they make up for the sun. Now the grass grows the same as it does in the winter to what it does in the summer. Ken took us to where the cricket players go after they have made a bad score or when the cricket players get a good score. It was just a small room. While we were on the subject cricket then Ken took us to where the cricket players train with the bowling machine. Now he took us to where the football players do there warm ups, where people wash there footy jumpers, they keep extra footy boots, ice baths and showers. with the warm up room there was a wall where the players throw footballs against the wall and there was heaps of football marks on the wall. then Ken took us to a room where we weren't aloud in because it was the drug testing room where the football players have to get tested for drugs and if thry are tesyed positive then they have to pay big fines and normally their club doesn't let them go back for example Ben Cousins is now at Richmond Football Club and used to be at the Westcost Eagles Football Club.
This term(term2) we are learning about water.Water can be very dangerous like in a flood if it rains and can damage your house. In some stage of you life you should learn to swim mostly when your at a young age because swimmining can come in handy at some stage of your life. You should always drink plenty of water for one it doesn't rot your teeth and if you don't drink water you can get dehidrated which can lead to fainting and getting dizzy. At our school to save water we have buckets under our bubble taps and then when the buckets start getting full someone pours the water onto the garden. Just resently we installed water tanks so when we flush the school toilets we recycle the water. We are in stage three in water ristrictions which is really bad because we are almost in stage four. We use water alot like for washing dishes, clothes and flushing the toilet and washing teeth and hands and many many more things. Water is used for so many things. There are different types of water like salt water, fresh water, rain water and tap water but there is also more.
